After muddling through the final weeks of the CFL season, we finally know the divisional semifinal matchups. The East game features the Hamilton Tiger-Cats visiting the Montreal Alouettes.

Hamilton comes limping into the playoffs, having lost their last two games to Toronto and Saskatchewan – the two non-playoff teams this season. However, the host Alouettes haven’t fared any better, losing their last three, including a 43-1 beatdown last weekend. Advantage: Hamilton
In head-to-head games, these two split the series 2-2, but the home team won each time, with Montreal taking the last two. As far as scoring is concerned, the Als edged the Ti-Cats 117-116. Advantage: Montreal.
As does most games in the CFL, this one will come down to the effectiveness of each team’s quarterback. Of course, Anthony Calvillo continues to dominate the league. He had one of his best seasons ever, throwing 404 complete passes in 654 tries for 5,251 yards, 32 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. But his counterpart in Kevin Glenn was just as dominant, albeit in fewer chances, going 307-for-488 with 3,963 yards, 19 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.
The Alouettes have won the last two Grey Cups. A lot of members on the team know what it’s like to battle through adversity and to taste victory. The Tiger-Cats haven’t won the Grey Cup since 1999, and haven’t actually won a playoff game since 2001, when they beat the visiting Alouettes. Hamilton is certainly the underdog in this situation, and it will be difficult to retrace the steps of David against the Goliath-like Montreal squad.
