CFL Betting Odds: Lions Host Eskimos in West Division Showdown

The British Columbia Lions had reeled off eight consecutive victories in CFL betting results before getting soundly beaten 42-10 by the snarling Tiger-Cats last week in Hamilton.

This Saturday night (10:00 pm Eastern) we’ll find out whether that lopsided loss was an indicator that the Lions are reverting to their early-season form, or if it was merely a blip on the radar of an otherwise dramatic turnaround by the Lions this season.

The Lions (9-7 SU, 9-7 ATS), who lost six of their first seven games this season before blasting the Eskimos 36-1 in Edmonton back in Week 8 to kick off that impressive eight-game winning streak, will host those same Eskimos (10-6 SU, 9-7 ATS) in the marquee matchup of Week 17.

At stake will be at least a share of first place in the tightly-packed West Division, with the Lions just two points behind the front-running Eskimos with only one more week of regular-season CFL betting action on the schedule next weekend.

Lions QB Travis Lulay has emerged as the second-best passer in the league this year with 4,213 yards passing and 25 touchdowns, ranking behind only Anthony Calvillo of the Montreal Alouettes. The Lions, who also defeated Edmonton 33-24 in Vancouver at the end of September during their winning streak, will have to slow down the elusive Jerome Massan of the Eskimos, who ranks second among all CFL running backs with 964 yards rushing and six touchdowns.

Also on the Week 18 schedule is an important matchup in Montreal where the Als will play host to Calgary on Sunday afternoon (1:00 pm Eastern), with the Stampeders (9-7 SU, 9-7 ATS) also just two points behind the Eskimos in the West Division, and the Alouettes (10-6 SU, 6-10 ATS) tied with Winnipeg atop the East Division.

The Blue Bombers (10-6 SU, 11-5 ATS) host the Argonauts on Friday night (8:00 pm Eastern), and the Tiger Cats (8-8 SU, 9-7 ATS) visit Saskatchewan on Saturday afternoon (3:00 pm Eastern). Both the Argos and Riders have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
